History of Coleford Great Western Railway Museum

Coleford’s railway heritage dates back to the early 19th century, with the introduction of plateways facilitating the transport of minerals from the Forest of Dean. These lines played a crucial role in the industrial development of the region, particularly in the transportation of coal and iron.
